The Australia Nike 2012/13 home jersey was launched on Tuesday. The
new kit will be the Socceroos’ first choice uniform for the next stage
of Asian Qualifiers for the 2014 FIFA World Cup. It is now available at World Soccer Shop
According to the Football Federation Australia website: The new
Qantas Socceroos home jersey has a traditional yellow body with a bold
green stripe down the entire left side, which runs through the national
coat of arms. On the right sleeve is a smaller green stripe – a design
innovation, which completes the stripe on the body of the shirt.
The new home shorts are green with the Australian coat of arms on the
bottom right leg, while the new home socks are yellow with ‘Australia’
on the back of each calf.
The brand new kits reflect an innovative and modern design that
enhances breathability, movement and overall performance. The Qantas
Socceroos will debut the kits on home soil in Brisbane on the 12th of
June when they take on Japan.
To continue Nike’s commitment to creating a better world through
lower environmental impact, the fabric of the kit’s shorts is made with
100% recycled polyester, whilst the fabric of the jersey is made of 96%
recycled polyester, with each kit using an average of 13 recycled
plastic bottles.
Embedded with Nike Dri-FIT technology, the kits help to regulate
players temperatures on the pitch to keep them dry and cool. Laser-cut
ventilation on the jersey also promotes localised cooling where athletes
need it most to ensure maximum performance.
These new home kits are Nike’s lightest ever global football kits, and almost 23% lighter than the version four years ago.
